The start of my favorite witch

Hello, it’s been a while since my last post and cosplay! Punk Hazard Tashigi was the last cosplay I made before becoming pregnant a couple years ago, and though I thought about returning to cosplay earlier, mommy life with an infant took up my time.

Now I’m somewhat back! For Halloween, I wanted to make something new and decided to get back into things with a simple cosplay. I chose Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service!

To make the dress, I started by drafting a custom pattern. I was just about to donate some clothes, when I realized one of the shirts was the fit I wanted. It was a little loose but not baggy. I took it apart to use as a base pattern.

New Photos

The past couple of months, I’ve been getting photos of cosplays that are missing them. First up, is my Punk Hazard Tashigi cosplay! I debuted it at A-kon last year in June, but I didn’t get a photoshoot done at that time. I had one done at Ikkicon in December instead! (See full set.)

I also realized that even though I made my Phi (Zero Escape) cosplay in 2015, I never got proper photos of the full costume. For this one, I just used my mini studio at home. (See full set.)

And the last one is more of my Yuri (Yuri on Ice) cosplay. I ordered this Makkachin tissue case last year, and I kept forgetting to get a photo with it. (See full set.)

That’s it for now! I have a couple ideas for next cosplays, but I haven’t quite planned them out yet. Hopefully soon!

Portal 2 boots

It’s been a few years since I made my Portal costume for Halloween, and I decided to re-visit it this year! Back then, I made the jumpsuit and then quickly made long fall blades out of foam. Since then, I’ve been wanting to go back and either re-make the Portal 1 blades or make the Portal 2 long fall boots. I decided on the Portal 2 version this year!

Note: Though I’m going to show how I made them in this entry, I’ll say that if I ever wore them again, I’d probably redo the whole thing. I only gave myself a few days to make these, so they were rushed, and the blades didn’t work out as I would have liked. I have notes at the end on the changes I’d like to make for next time.

To start, I made boot covers using stretch vinyl for the base boot part. I actually used the same base pattern from my Tashigi boot covers and altered them for Chell. I used a stronger fabric for the bottom this time, which is pleather, and then I stuck a shoe grip to it.
