Two down, one to go

Chihiro is finished now, which means I have two completed Spirited Away costumes!

Well, Haku’s wig is still a bit long, but I’m scared of cutting it. It’s so straight and even right now. What if I mess it up??! I haven’t decided whether to give it a trim or just leave it as is.

In my last entry, I finished Chihiro’s pants. Now I have her top finished too. I don’t really have much to say about its construction because I really just used my Haku pattern (top, undershirt) but with a few adjustments.

And so, Haku is for me. Chihiro is for Jessie. I now have a month left to make a No Face costume for Jack before A-kon. I hope I can make it in time!

Finally, some Chihiro progress

I finished the pants for Chihiro! Fortunately, I was able to use the same pattern from my Haku pants.

I used stretch poplin for the pink fabric. It’s a bit too thin, so when I was wearing it with a shorter pair of shorts, I could see the line where the shorts ended through the fabric. That’s when I decided to make my own pair of shorts that were longer.

I was looking through white fabric I already had around and decided on twill. I was afraid the white would be too see-through, so I lined it with some very light-weight broadcloth.

San Japan and Spirited Away progress

San Japan
I was at San Japan last Friday to take photos, and I ended up not cosplaying. It’s easier to do photoshoots out of costume ^^;; You can see previews from each photoshoot on my Flickr! View San Japan Flickr gallery.

Haku progress
I bought circle lens for my first time ever! Since Haku has green eyes, I decided to give them a try. The left photo is in costume with flash. The right photo is in (bad) indoor lighting.

Bambi Princess Mimi Apple Green – Brand: GEO – Size: 15mm

Sunflower Green – Brand: NEO – Size: 14mm

I think I like the Apple Green one more. I like the thicker outline and the subtle color. It’s hard to tell in those photos, but the Sunflower Green is really green.
